Fantasy baseball owners are always captivated by rookie baseball players and end up drafting them higher than their ADP, but sometimes the youngsters really pan out. This week is part of a series where we will check in on some of the rookies drafted in this year’s drafts to see why some worked and some have not. Last week we covered David Price, Matt Wieters, and Travis Snider. This week we feature a few other American League rookies that demanded attention in drafts this year: |

We’re back this week to check out players that were drafted between picks 101-150 during MockDraftCentral.com’s NFBC leagues before the season, to see which players were drafted too high. Sure, we’re only a couple of months into the season, but the first step in overcoming a problem is admitting it, so feel free to admit the guys who you drafted too high below in the comments section. |

It’s always easier to look back on drafts in retrospect to review players that may have been drafted too high, or maybe even too low. Whether your team is succeeding or not, it’s always good to review what you could have done better. The following is a list of players that, in retrospect, were drafted too high between slots 51-100 (note: things can still change, however, the list represents players up until this point in time). |

In what has been the busiest 48 hours of Frank Wren’s young career as the Atlanta Braves General Manager, has also been mine as an Atlanta Braves fan and baseball writer. Here is everything that I’ve been able to keep up with in the past week: |

On May 7 when Manny Ramirez was slapped with a 50-game suspension for using a women’s fertility drug, it made a huge impact on the game of fantasy baseball. Many people were forced to put Manny on their bench, and some people even decided to drop him, knowing that he would miss at least 50 games in one season.
It also created big changes in the Dodgers lineup; the team’s offense, which thrived due to Manny’s stick, was now relying upon Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier, who was off to a great start in April. For those that had these two on their teams, they had a few choices to make (we will use Ethier in this case): |

Monday Night Baseball on ESPN provided us with a fantastic pitching matchup, featuring two of the best pitchers of this decade in Derek Lowe of the Atlanta Braves and Johan Santana of the New York Mets. I don’t know about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game on mute so that I didn’t have to hear how big of a deal it was that Santana gave up a hit in the first inning, or that he allowed two unearned runs in the duel. |

There’s a phrase that gets tossed around on many fantasy sports websites, as well as by economists, and that is “buy low, sell high.” It’s such a simple phrase, yet it means so much when it comes to investing. It is the key to being a good manager of your assets after initially drafting them. In this case, your assets are the players that you roster on your fantasy teams.
